My Promised Land

Another awesome cafe night at Java Beach on Sloat.  I love this little place.  It just feels so San Francisco.  But San Francisco by the beach, not high tech San Francisco.  I think only people who live in San Francisco would understand.  Anyway the atmosphere is so chill, and people of all ages.

The next chapter in Refresh is Untying the Knots and it talks about breaking the chains and bondages in our lives from our present or our past.  The lies we've built up in our head become our idols - which is a sin at the end of the day.  However, because of the blood of Christ, we have already triumphed over these lies.  But because we have lived in a pattern of this way of life, we need to break free from it.   Sue says, "Jesus came to destroy, untie, and demolish your hurts, wounds, strongholds, and any lies you may be believing."

"Luke 10:19-20New International Version (NIV)
19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. 20 However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
There are a ton of lies and bondages in my life, past and present.  But God has given me the authority to TRAMPLE! Siiiick.  When I think of trampling I think of seeing a bunch of leaves when I was kid and stopping on each one to hear them crack - --- but one at a time.  If you did too many they wouldn't all break.  Hmmm...interesting.  Each one is being broken down little by little.  However, I know that I have spent a lot of years thinking this way and living life with those lies, that I know it's going to take some time to break.   I know that I just have to reconnecting with Jesus and His word. Slowly but surely His truth will be revealed.

In Colossians 3 it talks about something very similar.  It says get rid of the demons and live for the Holy Spirit.  I have already died and am risen with Christ (Colossians 3:3)  This chapter also gives specific ways to live in all aspects of my life; relationships, work, with friends, and family.  So interesting!

"Colossians 3: 12-17 NIV
12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.  15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."
This is the way to live, freedom in the Spirit.  Release all the bad and inhale the good.  So amazing!
