Hey fam! This week I got out of my shell and hung out with some folks from my CG! On Friday we went to a bar called Mezcalito . It had a rustic, but trendy feel. The drinks were amazing! Pretty packed on a Friday night, but we stayed at the bar. Service was great! Our bartender dared us to eat some fried crickets and offered us a free shot in return! Of course we did it! Kind of tasted like fried pig skin! On Saturday we were able to go out in to the Tenderloin and give out sandwiches, drinks, snacks, socks, toothbrushes, and toothpaste to those in need. Our friend decided to do an outreach for her birthday and used our place as the preparation and meeting spot. Got to meet some new friends and fellowship with the community. I have realized that when doing these outreaches I need to be more intentional with getting more conversational with everyone. The 'leader' in me wants to lead the team, but instead I need to lead in speaking to the people within the community; learning about them and praying for them. Yes, we are there to provide things they need, but that is just the starting point. As we continue to do these outreaches, I will commit to praying over someone and learning more about them as people - not as a group.
As you go through this week, listen to what God has for you; maybe it's the woman standing next to you as you wait to cross the street, maybe it's the man standing behind you waiting in line for your coffee. Someone out there needs to hear God's voice through you. Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you to those in need. You never know what someone might be going through.
